Lecturer (Learning Sciences and Technologies Academic Group)

  • The Learning Sciences and Technologies Academic Group (LST) at the National Institute of Education in Singapore is an interdisciplinary academic group that focuses on understanding learning in social-cultural contexts with the goal of designing and integrating learning environments and technologies. We aim to provide teachers with experience in future-ready learning designs and technology-enhanced pedagogies, and prepare them for the real-world 21st Century classrooms and their professional development journeys. LST is committed to bridging learning and instructional design, and connecting theory and practice through a variety of methodologies, including reflection-in-action, action research, design experiments and ethnography for the advancement of research and teaching. Our goal is to enable teachers to become designers for learning and teaching and active contributors in a reflective community of practice.

    We offer courses for initial teacher education, as well as graduate programmes such as the Master of Arts (Instructional Design and Technologies), Master of Arts in Professional Education (Training and Development), Master of Education (Learning Sciences and Technologies), Doctor of Education (Technology-Mediated Learning Environments) and Doctor of Philosophy (Education).     The LST Academic Group seeks applications for the positions of Lecturer.  This is an excellent opportunity for outstanding scholars to engage in a dynamic department to advance our programmatic and research goals.

  • Candidates who possess a graduate degree in education or other relevant social sciences fields and specialize in educational technology or learning sciences, are invited to apply for this non-tenurable position.

    We are looking for candidates with expertise in one of the following areas: eLearning, instructional design. Candidates who have experience working with schools or educational institutions in eLearning or instructional design are preferred.

  • The successful candidate is expected to teach courses in initial teacher education programmes, such as in the areas of educational technology and/or classroom management. He/She will also have the opportunities to teach masters programmes, supervise critical inquiry projects, and actively engage in research that is relevant to the strategic research agenda of the National Institute of Education. He/She is also expected to be actively involved in the professional development of teachers and school leaders from the Singapore Ministry of Education. Successful candidates must be prepared to undertake administrative duties, such as coordinating and reviewing courses/programmes, in addition to their teaching and research roles.
