Research Assistant/Associate (Office of Education Research) [JT]

  • The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant/Associate on a 12-month contract at the Office of Education Research

    Project Title: Research Dissemination and Strategic Communications

    Project Introduction: The successful applicant will work with the Assistant Deans of the Office of Education Research (OER) to help develop strategic plans for education research, as well as chart potential areas of research of interest to teachers and society.

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, Learning Sciences/Technology and/or related fields, for the position of Research Assistant
    • Master’s degree and/or Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, Learning Sciences/Technology and/or related fields, with good honours for the position of Research Associate 
    • Ability to read and understand educational research, and create narratives from complex research ideas 
    • Ability to conduct systematic review and synthesis of literature, data collection, analysis and reporting (strong quantitative statistical data analysis skills are highly desirable)
    • Excellent written and communication skills
    • A pleasant and team-oriented disposition, confident yet able to respond well to feedback 
    • Able to work independently, think critically, and displays initiative/resourcefulness
    • Possesses a passion for education and research
    • At least 2 years of professional work experience, ideally in positions in the education field and/or research analysis
    • Conduct systematic review and synthesis of literature on a range of pertinent topics related to education and educational research 
    • Conduct a range of data collection and analysis (e.g. survey, focus groups, interviews, meta-analysis/meta-synthesis, qualitative coding, quantitative statistical analysis)
    • Create powerful narratives from synthesized research data that will show impact at the school and social level
    • Report on observable trends and ‘sense-making’ of educational research data from projects funded by OER
    • Prepare written reports/slides and make presentations to convey findings from the systematic reviews and analyses undertaken to a variety of audiences/ stakeholders (e.g. OER management and/or the Ministry of Education [MOE]) 
    • Undertake other duties which may from time to time be requested by the reporting officer(s) or Assistant Deans.
