The 3rd NIE-ELL Postgraduate Conference was successfully launched on April 23, 2012 at the National Institute of Education. This annual event, sponsored by the English Language and Literature Academic Group, aims to promote academic exchange and sharing among its postgraduate students. This year’s conference (PGC2012), with the theme of “Exploring English Language and Literature through Teaching and Research”, has attracted a large audience of students and faculty at the opening session. There was a diverse array of paper presentations ranging from practical issues of language teaching and learning to more theoretical discussions of language and education. What made this year’s conference unique was the practice of inviting ELL professors as session chairs, which not only strengthened the nexus between teachers and students but also greatly increased the popularity of each parallel session. More than 70 local and international students as well as faculty members attended the plenary session and the parallel sessions during the day.
