The Teachers’ Language Development Centre (TLDC) at NIE helps student teachers develop their English language and communication skills they need for their studies and for their teaching careers.

The Centre is responsible for three programmes:

a) The LEADS (Language Enhancement and Academic Discourse Skills) modules in the pre-service curricula:

b) The ELCE programme (English Language Content Enhancement)
for student teachers on the Post-Graduate Certificate in Education taking English as a content subject.

c) The CELS programme (Certificate in English Language Studies)
for student teachers of English in the DipEd and BA/BSc (Primary) programmes.

TLDC Self Access Centre

TLDC also runs a Self-Access Centre and offers individual consultant sessions and a series of workshops to further support student teachers in the development of their Language and skills.
