Events Details

Dr. O’Mahony has been teaching hybrid and fully online courses in social studies, comparative education, and international-mindedness since 2007. She will share and discuss conceptual frameworks and examples of activities and projects that foster students’ civic engagement with / in their local communities.

Dr. O'Mahony’s research interests are in elementary social studies curriculum and practice. She would like to think that political ignorance in the USA can be addressed, at least partially, through increasing teachers’ understanding of the purpose of social studies: to prepare students to engage in knowledgeable decision-making for the public good.
