The course will introduce teachers to the Investigative Case-Based Learning (ICBL) approach for teaching science. Examples will illustrate how ICBL provides a rich context for meaningful scientific inquiry incorporating the 3Ps - problem posing, problem solving and peer persuasion – key actions taken by scientists during inquiry. The use of realistic problem scenarios promotes the development of 21st century competencies such as applying concepts to daily life society, questioning, problem solving, use of technology, collaboration, and communication.
