Events Details

We would like to invite the ICCE conference attendees to come and tour the lab, meet the research teams, try out new activities and software, and engage in conversation about the lab’s research.

LSL was established in 2005 with a vision,

“To empower learners, in schools and beyond, through design research centred on meaning–making, enabling tools, and participatory cultures. As the first such lab in Asia, we focus on transforming learning using interdisciplinary approaches that cut across methodologies and scales of educational theory and practice.”

LSL researchers have been awarded 84 research projects, at a total amount of approximately $20m since 2005.  The majority of the projects have been school-based, with most involving design partnerships with teachers and other stakeholders in the schools.  To date, we have worked with 85+ schools, impacting 500+ teachers and 10,000+ students.  Our research projects range among the following five themes: Student Generated Designs, Play/ Game-based Learning, Mobile Learning, Embodied Cognition, and New Media.

During this interactive event, each of the projects will set up an area where their research can be explored and discussed.  Some will have hands-on technology or software demonstrations, others will have student artifacts to be explored and discussed, still others will have a sample science lessons for participants to engage in.  Each project will have a representative available to discuss the research.  Refreshments will be served.
