Events Details

The University of Virginia invited the National Institute of Education (NIE), Singapore to co-organise and co-participate in a Joint Panel discussion on Wednesday, 25 May 2016 at the Raffles Hotel (Casuarina Suites A and B).

The two-hour session is a landmark event to provide an engaging platform for two teacher education institutes to discuss and tackle questions on the topic of “Unleashing Creativity and Innovation in a Changing, Interconnected World”. In a global landscape where technological rapids continue, more thought and effort must be deliberated to potential issues and questions such as:
- "What creativity and innovations should we encourage?"
- "How do we help to unleash such creativity and innovations?"
- "What are the possible manifestations of such creativity and innovations in a changing and interconnected world?" and
- "What could be the potential short and long term impact?"

NIE Director, Professor Tan Oon Seng will be part of the speaker panel with Mrs Chua-Lim Yen Ching, Deputy Director-General of Education (Professional Development); Executive Director, Academy of Singapore Teachers, Ministry of Education; and University of Virginia’s Dean of the Curry School of Education, Professor Robert C Pianta. The session is moderated by President of the University of Virginia, Professor Teresa A Sullivan.
