The Passion Award

The Passion Award, introduced in 2005 is to acknowledge dedicated and committed student teachers for their invaluable service to the NIE community.

A maximum of 12 such awards is given annually to final year student teachers who satisfy the following selection criteria: 

1.   Served the NIE community consistently and whole-heartedly during their course of study at NIE

 2.   Initiated and organized activities that added vibrancy to student life on campus

 3.   Promoted the brand name of NIE through activities and projects

 4.   Contributed time and effort beyond the call of duty

 5.   Played a significant role in recruiting student teachers for student activities

 6.   Should have at least passed their final year examinations and Practicum 

 An Honour category for the award is given to two most deserving of the awardees in the area of service to NIE.

Nominations are invited from staff and student teachers for the award.  The candidates will be selected and recommended to Dean Foundation Programmes and Director for approval by a selection board.

The award comprising a glass award worth $100 and a certificate of recognition is presented to the awardees during Teachers’ Day celebrations in NIE every year.
