The academic curriculum emphasises fundamental concepts and principles as well as comprehensive coverage of the core knowledge of each subject.  At the same time, it focuses on areas of study with major social, cultural, economic or industrial relevance.

Trainee teachers on the Primary course are required to read one Academic Subject while those on the Secondary course for Malay Language & Literature are required to read two Academic Subjects Malay Language and Malay Literature.
