CAD180 Oral Communication in Malay
Development of effective communication skills in using Malay in formal and informal situations. The new pronunciation system (sebutan baku). Practise in speaking skills such as debating, public speaking. Recitation of old and new forms of poetry.
CAD280 Jawi Reading and Writing
Literacy in Jawi script. Practise in reading and writing Jawi script. Jawi as in newspaper and Malay classics.
CAF380* Islam and Malay Values
The kind of values orientation which had evolved among the Malays of Southeast Asia. Analysis of the socio-historical factors that had shaped this orientation. The influence of Islamic philosophy on Malay thought and values.
CAF480* Muslim Philosophers and Civilisation
The works of major Malay and Muslim philosophers and their contribution to civilisation.The four great imams and mazhabs: Hanafi, Hambali, Shafie and Maliki. The influence of the works of other Muslim thinkers such as Ghazali, Ibnu Sinna, Ibnu Khaldun, as well as Malay thinkers such as Hamzah Fansuri, Nuruddin Ar-Raniri, Bokhari Al-Jauhari, etc on Malay thought and culture.
