This module will look into how the teaching of art has evolved over history. Issues that arise from the various education theories and their curriculum implications will be discussed. The module will also introduce key classical and contemporary theories of child development in the visual arts and how they affect teaching approaches to art in primary schools. The module will also examine how government policies and initiatives in the arts influence art education in primary schools and beyond. |
