Associate Professor David Ng Foo Seong Delivers Keynote Address at the 2017 Instructional Leadership International Symposium in Taiwan

Associate Professor David Ng Foo Seong at the Policy and Leadership Studies Academic Group of NIE, was invited by the Taiwan Ministry of Education to deliver a keynote address at the 2017 Instructional Leadership International Symposium on 27 October 2017. The title of his presentation was “Distributed and Systems instructional leadership”.

In A/P Ng’s keynote address, he presented on macro and micro forces influencing schools that will require school principals to practice instructional leadership differently. He discussed findings of how principals design school structure, develop collaborative culture, and distribute leadership to staff for school improvement in the context of change. The presentation also looked at how school leaders practice competing roles of centripedal and centrifugal influence in order to align schools to the national policies and encourage innovation and creativity.

A/P Ng’s address arose from his project with OER titled “An Investigation of the Impact of Instructional Leadership Practices and School Culture on Staff Performance in Singapore Primary Schools“.
