Last year, Assistant Professor Tan Lik Tong, Senior Lecturer Dr Beverly Goh Pi Lee, and Research Assistant Mr Nicholas Yap Wei Liang from the Academic Group of Natural Sciences and Science Education (NSSE) conducted a series of workshops titled “Project-Based Learning: Pollution Experiments Using Ecotoxicology Biomarkers for Schools”. Due to the positive response garnered from the schools that participated, a second run of the workshops was conducted between June to August this year. This was done in collaboration with NParks and partially sponsored by Kose.

The trio has also published a paper based on the workshops conducted in the Asian Youth Journal of Biology titled “Project-Based Learning: Engaging Secondary School Students in Authentic Environmental Science Research”.

This series of workshops is based on an on-going project “Engaging Secondary School Students in Authentic Research Projects Based on Environmental Science Theme”.
