It was reported that the Dr Muhd Ariff Ahmad Malay Studies Endowment which was set up in NTU noted that a group of Malay/Muslim organisations, led by Jamiyah, launched donation collections for the endowment fund. It was noted that Dr Ariff’s contributions acting as a basis for the setting up of the endowment were recorded in a proposal paper by Head of Malay Language and Culture Division of the Asian Language and Culture Academic Group at NIE, Associate Professor Hadijah Rahmat. Report added that the endowment was the first of its kind to be named after a Malay figure in Singapore. To help spur the endowment, $250,000 needed to be collected by the end of this year. Report noted that other Malay/Muslim organisations involved in the endowment included Singapore Malay Teachers’ Union, Singapore Malay Teachers’ Co-operative Ltd, as well as NTU’s and NIE’s Malay Language Societies.
