The 5th International Conference on Teaching and Learning with Technology (ICTLT) organized by the Ministry of Education took place from 30 – 31 March 2016 at Suntec Convention & Exhibition Centre. Dr Jennifer Pei-Ling Tan, Research Scientist from the Centre of Research for Pedagogy and Practice at OER, was invited as a panel speaker for the panel discussion on “Culture Builder”.

Alongside Mr Chan Poh Meng, President, Academic of Principals Singapore, Mr Gregory Whitby, Executive Director of Schools, Catholic Education, Diocese of Parramatta and Dr Cheah Horn Mun, Assistant Provost, SIM University, Dr Tan shared from examples encountered in her research work on ways to build a culture of innovative teaching and learning with ICT, and what works and what does not. She also co-presented the paper on the WiREAD learning innovation project together with her co-Principal Investigator, Ms Muneira Daud, Head of Department, English Language, Ngee Ann Secondary School – a participating school in the project, titled “WiREAD: Enhancing Students’ 21st Century Critical Literacy Skills through a Web-Based Collaborative Reading and Learning Analytics Environment”.

On the opening day of the conference, Dr Tan presented on the WiREAD learning innovation project to Acting Minister for Education (Schools) Mr Ng Chee Meng during his tour of the showcase projects.

The conference was attended by more than 2000 educators, researchers, policy makers and industry partners, with a theme of “Future Ready: Inspire, Connect, Transform”.
