Dr Wong Lung Hsiang Commended for Organising Two Panels on the Inter-Discourse between Learning Technology and the Learning
Tuesday, 07 April 2015
Dr Wong Lung Hsiang has recently organised and chaired two panels at International Conference on Computers in Education 2013 (Bali, Indonesia; November 2013) and Global Chinese Conference on Computers in Education 2014 (Shanghai, China; May 2014) respectively. Both panels shared the same theme, " Ideating cross-pollination: A marriage in the making between technology-enhanced learning (TEL) and the learning sciences", except that the GCCCE panel was Mandarin-speaking. The idea was to invite younger researchers who are either focusing on the learning sciences or TEL research, but are also having sufficient understanding in the research epistemology and methodology of the other side to share their opinions on the two lines of research, perhaps by relating to their own research experiences, and seek for further opportunities of inter-discourse and synergy between them.
The two events were part of the endeavours of the Membership Sub-committee of the International Society of the Learning Sciences, where Dr. Wong is serving as a member since 2010, in outreaching to more scholars in the TEL field. His effort is commended at the recent closing ceremony of the International Conference of the Learning Sciences 2014 held in Madison, USA.
