ELL’s PhD Student, Bai Shuming, wins the International Society of Humor Studies’ Graduate Student Award

Bai Shuming, a 3rd-Year ELL PhD student supervised by Associate Professor Hu Guangwei and a recipient of Nanyang President’s Graduate Scholarship, has been informed by Professor Delia Chiaro, President of the International Society of Humor Studies (ISHS), that he is a winner of the 2017 ISHS Graduate Student Award.

As a recipient of this important award instituted to recognize emerging scholars, Shuming will receive a certificate of merit as well as a monetary stipend of USD$250, and present his research in a plenary session at the 2017 ISHS Conference in Montreal, Canada. He is also invited to participate in the annual Hummer Summer School with no registration fees, and to apply to teach 1-2 hours at the Humor Summer School in 2018, 2019, or 2020.
