Mother Tongue Languages Symposium 2017

It was a great turnout at the Mother-Tongue Symposium 2017 at Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre on 19 August 2017 between 11 am – 8pm.
Student teachers led by Dr Sasikumar Ponnnalagu, Mdm Hayati Abdullah and Ms Jesmine Tan engaged parents and children with the exciting Mother-tongue language learning approaches innovated by the team.
We were honored to have the Guest-of-Honor for the event, Minister for Education (Schools) & Second Minister forTransport Mr Ng Chee Meng, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Education & Ministry of Trade and Industry Ms Low Yen Ling, Senior Parliamentary Secretary Assoc Prof Muhammad Faishal Bin Ibrahim and from NIE Dean of Teacher Education, Associate Professor Liu Woon Chia gracing our booth and hear our student teachers presenting the fun and innovative ways to entice young learners in learning MTLs.
Both adults and young were intrigued with the presentation of the e-adventure book by the Chinese Language division, the Rory cubes story narration from the Malay Language division and the reading activity using the Moo-O application by the Tamil Language division.
The public participated with great excitement and ALC is indeed thankful for being able to play a part in the promotion of learning Mother-tongue language in a fun and exploratory way.
A/P Tan Chee Lay and A/P Aw Guat Poh were also invited to share with parents on the different avenues to nurture children in the learning of Chinese Language.
A/P Aw Guat Poh, A/P Sivakumaran Ramalingam, A/P Roksana Bibi Abdullah and Mdm Lee Chai Yen were also one of the judges for The Outstanding Pre-School Mother Tongue Language Teacher Award.
