NIE CELEBRATES THE LEADING FOUNDATION TEACHER
AWARD 2016

In recognition of passionate and dedicated teachers in early childhood and special needs education, the National Institute of Education (NIE) is holding its third Leading Foundation Teachers Award (LFTA) 2016 Prize Presentation Ceremony on Monday, 17 October 2016.

Guest-of-Honour, Mr Lim Siong Guan, Group President of GIC will present the award to four outstanding educators in the categories of Early Childhood Teachers, Special School Teachers and Allied Educators (Learning and Behavioural Support).

 Recipients of the award had proved to be exceptional and passionate educators.  They displayed qualities which embraced both the 'hardware' of teaching in terms of making the constant search and effort to implement innovative practices to impact the lives of his or her students and the ‘software’ of teaching in terms of advocating and caring for their students They are often seen going the extra mile to make that difference in their students’ lives. They are an inspiration to their peers, and a role model to be emulated by others in their profession.

 The Leading Foundation Teacher Award 2016

 The Leading Foundation Teacher Award, recognises passionate and dedicated teachers in early childhood and special needs education, is organised by the National Institute of Education (NIE) Singapore and the Community Foundation of Singapore (CFS). The funding for this award started in 2014. It is the first in Singapore to honour excellence in both early childhood and special needs educators.

 Nominees of the award range from preschool and infant care educators, special school educators and allied educators (learning and behavioural support). They are assessed by a panel of experts from the NIE, the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Association for Early Childhood Educators (Singapore) who acknowledges exemplary educators that demonstrate exceptional dedication and commitment that go beyond the call of duty.
