The 60-member strong NIE Winds (formerly the NIE Symphonic Band) comprises NIE Music students, NTU General Elective students, and NIE-NTU alumni.

Following the success of its SG50 joint concert with Fuchun Primary School earlier this year, NIE Winds staged its own public ticketed concert featuring a challenging programme of all-American compositions under the baton of Assistant Professor Leonard Tan.

Titled as “A Celebration of NIE Musical Talents”, it is a celebration of our music talents such as, NIE Master of Education student, Mr Julian Low as Tuba soloist; NIE Specialist Diploma in Band Directing graduate, Mr Jasen How as guest conductor; and NIE Bachelor of Arts fourth year student teacher, Ms Jasmin Tan who made her public conducting debut as part of her Final Year Project. The concert was held on 14 November 2015 at the School of the Arts Singapore Concert Hall.
