NIE TEACHERS' INVESTITURE CEREMONY ON MONDAY, 13 JULY 2009 (2.30PM), TUESDAY, 14 JULY 2009 (2.30PM) & WEDNESDAY, 15 JULY 2009 (10.00AM) AT NANYANG AUDITORIUM, NANYANG TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY, 50 NANYANG AVENUE, SINGAPORE

A total of 1,893 newly qualified teachers joining the teaching force, will receive their National Institute of Education, Singapore (NIE) diplomas at the Nanyang Auditorium, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) on 13, 14 and 15 July 2009. The guests of honour for the event are Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Education and Second Minister for Defence, Ms Grace Fu, Senior Minister of State for National Development and Education and Mr S Iswaran, Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Education for the three ceremonies respectively.

For the ceremony on 13 July, a total of 604 teachers from the Bachelor of Arts (Education), Bachelor of Science (Education) and Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Primary) programmes will receive their certificates. Dr Ng Eng Hen will also be presenting the MOE Postgraduate Scholarship Awards and the National Youth Council's Outstanding Youth in Education Award (OYEA).

The second ceremony on 14 July, will witness 655 teachers receiving the Diploma in Art Education, Diploma in Education, Diploma in Special Education and other diplomas.

At the third ceremony on 15 July, Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) and Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Physical Education) (Secondary) certificates will be presented to 634 teachers.

Among the prize winners, listed in Annexe C are some of the outstanding graduands who coped with challenging circumstance to achieve their diplomas.
