Palestinian Education Minister on Study Visit to Singapore

SINGAPORE: Palestinian Minister of Education and Higher Education Lamis Alami and Singapore Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli have reaffirmed the warm and friendly ties between Singapore and the Palestinian National Authority.
At a lunch hosted by Mr Masagos on Monday, Ms Alami expressed admiration for Singapore's achievements in education, which the Palestinian delegation were keen to learn from.
On his part, Mr Masagos welcomed more Palestinian officials to participate in courses under the Singapore Cooperation Programme.
Ms Alami is leading a delegation of education officials on a four-day study visit to Singapore, starting Monday.
The visit is a follow-up to Singapore's offer of enhanced technical assistance of S$5 million over five years to help in Palestinian capacity building.
The assistance package was announced at the Conference on Cooperation among East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development (CEAPAD) meeting in Tokyo in February this year.
During her visit, Ms Alami will call on Education Minister Heng Swee Keat.
The Palestinian delegation will also be briefed on Singapore's education system and policies, as well as visit ITE College East, Republic Polytechnic and the National Institute of Education.
