Plays Out Loud: A Reading of 10 New 10-minute Plays by 10 Teacher Playwrights
Friday, 20 September 2013
Presented in conjunction with the Writers’
Centre, Singapore, Plays Out Loud, held on 12th September 2013, showcased the work of ten first-time
teacher playwrights who have been mentored in playwriting as part of their
undergraduate coursework at the National Institute of Education.
In 2012 as
part of their coursework for ACR421: Teaching Drama, the students were
required to write a ten-minute play in order to experience for themselves the
power of drama-based creative writing pedagogy in cultivating creative
self-expression and personal voices in our classrooms. Out of the plays that
were submitted, ten have been selected for this public presentation.
