Tamil University will soon enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Mauritius for taking up research and a faculty exchange programme, said M.Thirumalai, Vice-Chancellor, Tamil University, here on Friday.

Speaking at an international seminar on ‘Drama Tamil in Foreign Countries’ organised by the Department of Tamil Studies in Foreign Countries of the University, Prof.Thirumalai said that already some teachers of Tamil University are teaching in Mauritius. “Once the MoU is signed, teachers can visit each other’s institute for research,” he said.

Already Tamil University has published a book on the ‘Status of Mauritius after 1990’. Another book will be written soon on Mauritius, Prof. Thirumalai said.

Steps are being contemplated to sign another MoU with Sultan Idris University of Malaysia, he said.
