NIE TEACHERS' INVESTITURE CEREMONY ON TUESDAY, 8 JULY 2008 (2.30PM), WEDNESDAY, 9 JULY 2008 (2.30PM) & THURSDAY, 10 JULY 2008 (10.00AM) AT NANYANG AUDITORIUM, NANYANG TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY, 50 NANYANG AVENUE, SINGAPORE

This year's Teachers' Investiture Ceremony will see a total of 1,672 newly-qualified teachers joining the teaching force. They will receive their National Institute of Education, Singapore (NIE) diplomas at the Nanyang Auditorium, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) on 8, 9 and 10 July 2008. Guest of honour for the event will be Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Education and Second Minister for Defence.

For the ceremony on 8 July, a total of 504 teachers from the Bachelor of Arts (Education), Bachelor of Science (Education) and Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Primary) programmes will receive their certificates. Dr Ng Eng Hen will also be presenting the National Youth Council's Outstanding Youth in Education Award to three recipients.

The second ceremony on 9 July, will witness 521 teachers receiving the Diploma in Art Education, Diploma in Education, Diploma in Special Education and other diplomas.

At the third ceremony on 10 July, Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) and Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Physical Education) (Secondary) certificates will be presented to 611 teachers and Diploma in Physical Education (Primary) certificates will be presented to 36 teachers.

Among the prize winners, listed in Annexe C are some of the outstanding graduands who coped with challenging circumstances to earn their diplomas.
