NIE was invited by the University of Virginia to co-organise and participate in a joint panel discussion on 25 May 2016. The topic for discussion was “Unleashing Creativity and Innovation in a Changing, Interconnected World”. Professor Tan Oon Seng (Director, NIE) was part of the panel with Mrs Chua-Lim Yen Ching (Deputy Director-General of Education [Professional Development] and Executive Director, Academy of Singapore Teachers, Ministry of Education), Professor Robert C. Pianta (Dean, Curry School of Education, University of Virginia) and the session was moderated by Professor Teresa A. Sullivan (President, University of Virginia). The event encouraged practitioners, researchers, education leaders and policymakers to share on directions for educational research and practice.
