NIE Director Prof Lee Sing Kong (Front row, 4th from left) with graduands of Diploma in School Counselling and Diploma in Physical Education
7 October 2009 was a happy occasion as 42 teachers received their diplomas.
Six batches of DSC course participants have graduated since the programme started in 2005. To date, NIE has trained almost 250 full-time school counsellors to provide counselling services to students, case consultations to school personnel and parents as well as devise and deliver training programmes for students with emotional needs.
The second batch of DPE graduating teachers have now developed professional competence and expertise in teaching Physical Education as a major subject. They also have a firm grasp of the psychological, sociological and philosophical underpinnings of teaching PE in schools, and are now better equipped to be specialist PE teachers.
