Striking Gold at the National Youth Achievement Award

While most youngsters her age were hanging out at malls or movie theatres on weekends, 20-year old Sherlyn Tan was trekking through jungle trails in Malaysia, kayaking at Kallang Water Sports Centre or helping out at Beyond Social Services, a child-care centre for low-income families.

Singapore Honours NIE Council Members and Staff through National Day Awards

The Singapore National Day Awards recognise various forms of merit and service to Singapore. This year, a total of 3,514 individuals in 22 award categories received National Day Honours.

First Singaporean Awarded the ISBNPA Annual Meeting Participant Scholarship Program 2008

Associate Professor John Wang from Physical Education and Sports Science academic group (PESS), was awarded a scholarship of US$1,200 conference registration waiver for the 7th Annual Conference of the ISBNPA in Canada in May 2008 and a one-year ISBNPA membership.

NIE Student Attends Hitachi Young Leaders’ Initiative

NIE-VPA Reaches Out with Art

In 2007, an interdisciplinary social-change art initiative was conceived by Asst Prof Winston Ang from NIE’s VPA academic group in conjunction with the Singapore Prison Service to raise awareness in order to help ex-offenders and their families integrate into the Singapore society.
