Programme & Student Development (PSD) leads in the review and enhancement of existing programmes and in the development of new programmes in the face of the changing local and educational landscape and the need for a responsive, relevant and an academically rigorous programme to prepare our student teachers to meet the demands of the 21st century classroom.
Another key function of the unit is to enthuse, encourage and facilitate the holistic development of our student teachers. The unit also provides counselling support and oversees the growth and development of student clubs and leads in the planning, development and management of the compulsory service learning programme, the Group Endeavours in Service Learning (GESL) and the Meranti Project which aims to help student teachers to build better self-awareness and deeper commitment towards the teaching profession.
In addition, the unit also plans and manages the Postgraduate Diploma in English Language Teaching (PGDELT) programme, a scholarship sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Singapore to 35 tertiary educators from all over China.
PSD is led by Associate Dean, A/P Low Ee Ling with A/P Vilma D'Rozario, Sub-Dean for Student Counselling & Liaison assisting in the areas of student development and counselling. The three programme sub-deans (PGDE, Diploma and Degree) are also involved in aspects of programme development that impact their particular programmes. The unit is also supported by two Assistant heads, Ms Stephane Cheung (Ast Head/ Programme and Student Development) and Ms Phyllis Kok (Ast Head/ Student Liaison) and their teams.
