Research Interests
The malleability and potential of information and communications technology (ICT) to evolve the delivery of the education system.

  • Jesmine Tan joined the Ministry of Education as a mid-career officer.  Previously, as a Systems Development Manager, she was in-charge of the development of an Enterprise Resource Planning software which aimed to enhance the operational functions of SMEs and MNCs. With her expertise in the computerisation of primitive operations, she was able to bring the local education system to a new age.  During her 7 years in Singapore Chinese Girls’ School, she enhanced various administrative processes, incubated and initiated innovative pedagogical approaches with her exuberance of knowledge and plenitude of ideas especially in the area of ICT.  Since 2010, she has presented papers at international conferences; shared at the national and cluster levels; conducted workshops at the Academy of Singapore Teachers; and headed trainings for teachers’ professional development at the school level.  She believes that with the rapid advancement of technology, there is an increased and accelerated growth potential for not just the 21st Century Competencies, but also the students of the future.
