Ms Grace Liow teaches Social Studies (Primary) to the pre-service and in-service teachers. In order to enhance the learning experiences of the pre-service teachers, Ms Liow also collaborates with Primary schools for the Inquiry-Based Social Studies modules such as Fieldwork Inquiry. She is also a tutor for the module, Singapore Kaleidoscope.
Ms Liow has taught Geography, Social Studies and English Language at Pioneer Secondary School for 17 years. Previously Ms Liow held various portfolios as part of the school’s management team. She was the HOD for Normal Technical Stream, Subject Head for Geography, National Education and Student Leadership, Student Learning Driver (Consortium) Head (Normal Academic Stream) as well as the Level Head for English Language and English Literature.
Ms Liow proposed and spearheaded two innovative Geography projects (‘Volcanoes in Action!’ GIS project and ‘The Warmest spot in Jurong West’ Weather and Climate Fieldwork Project) in school and was invited to present at the International Conference of Educational Technology in 2007 as well as MOE Excel Fest 2014. In January 2014, Ms Liow was nominated by the school to attend a 6-month HOD milestone programme at NIE – Management and Leadership in Schools. In the same year, Ms Liow has also received the National Day Commendation Award 2014. Ms Liow received the MOE Long Service Award in 2010 (10 years) and 2015 (15 years). In recognition of her passion in teaching, Ms Liow has received 2 Most Caring Teacher Awards presented by her school as well as by NIE & Exxon Mobile. Ms Liow is also the recipient of the school’s outstanding contribution Award (team and individual) almost every year from 2007 to 2016.
