Research Interests
Chinese intellectual history (mainly in Chinese Classical Learning or Jingxue, focusing on Han apocryphal texts or chenwei) and language-in-education policy in Singapore.

  • Dr NEO Peng Fu is a historian by training, who received his PhD from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

    He had taught at the National University of Singapore, National Institute of Education (Singapore), and is now the Director of Confucius Institute, Nanyang Technological University.

    In the area of professional service, he currently serves on the following national and tertiary committees:

    1. Member of the National Translation Committee, Ministry of Communications and Information, from 1 March 2016 to 28 February 2018
    2. Member of Chinese Resource Panel for the National Translation Committee, Ministry of Communications and Information, from 1 March 2016 to 28 February 2018
    3. Member of the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning, Ministry of Education, from June 2014 to 31 December 2018
    4. Member of the Academic Resource Panel of Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, National Heritage Board, from March 2015 to March 2019
    5. Member of the Chinese Reading Advisor, National Library Board, from 1 June 2016 to 31 May 2018
    6. Member of the Advisory Panel for the School of Arts & Social Sciences, SIM University, from June 2015 to present

    He had also served on the executive council of the Singapore Society for Asian Studies as President (2010-2012, 2012-1014).
