The Office of Graduate Studies & Professional Learning (GPL) is one of the two key programme offices in the National Institute of Education (NIE). In addition to being responsible for overseeing NIE’s higher degree programmes, GPL also offers a variety of professional development programmes and courses for Singapore teachers ranging from short-courses to leadership programmes. GPL also provides academic research grant management to NIE faculty.
GPL works closely with NIE’s parent university, the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the Ministry of Education (MOE), Singapore in the designing and development of its programmes. Together with advice through academic exchanges with NIE’s overseas’ partners, the programmes offered by GPL are not only relevant to the needs of the local participants, but are also aligned with global trends and international standards.
Through agreements with overseas universities, we are also able to offer joint academic programmes, and a multitude of enriching courses using subject matter experts from such universities.
You will find that most our programmes not only offer you knowledge in a specific discipline but also the pedagogy of the discipline. This is an unique feature of NIE’s programmes which is uncommon.
