Abstract
The main objectives of this project are: (1) To determine the common knowledge and skills in science are that commonly tested in primary and secondary school (2) To understand teachers' level of understanding of knowledge and skills that are required by students when questions are set (3) To understand students' level of understanding of knowledge and skills that are require of them when they attempt science questions (4) To compare between students' level of understanding and teachers' level of understanding of requirements of science questions The deliverables of the project are set at: (1) To develop a set of exemplars as teaching aids to increase teachers' assessment literacy in science (2) To develop a set of exemplars as teaching resource for pre-service teachers to help them learn about setting valid assessment (3) To craft a set of principles for designing better and more accurate assessment items for primary and secondary school science
