Abstract
As part of ER3.0, the New Media, Multimodality and Learning Taskforce’s remit is to design and enact a planned and coordinated programme of research studies contributing to NIE/OER’s agenda in Curriculum and Instruction. The main purpose of the present study is to map in detail (via an extensive critical literature review) the existing terrain of new media, multimodality and learning research, and to propose and justify a suite of programmatic research studies to fill identified gaps in local knowledge, pedagogy and learning practice. A secondary purpose is to raise awareness of new media, multimodality and learning issues within NIE (through roundtable discussions and other meetings) and to teamwork, collaborate and share with colleagues as widely as possible.
