Abstract
The project will enable the team to investigate the tracing of the trajectory of development of school autonomy and discuss the various facets of school autonomy in operational in the Singapore education system. The project will examine the role of accountability vis-à-vis school autonomy, as well as the system’s unique approach of balancing autonomy with centralisation in ensuring the achievement of the system’s goals and outcomes for student learning such as those related to 21st century learning. The project will also enable the team to inquire and stock-take the Singapore education system’s approach to curriculum reform.
