Admission FAQs

  • 1. Who are full-fee paying students?

Full-fee paying students are students who pay full programme fees without subsidy. They are unlike students sponsored by the Ministry of Education (MOE) in that the latter students' fees are paid for by the Ministry. In view of this difference, full-fee paying students do not need to serve an employment bond with MOE.

    2. What is MOE-sponsorship?

Every year, MOE sponsors candidates to attend teacher education programmes offered at NIE. The fees for those under MOE-sponsorship are paid for by MOE.

Aspiring teachers can apply to MOE for teaching positions with Singapore's mainstream Primary, Secondary Schools and Junior Colleges. Untrained teachers hired and bonded by MOE will undergo programmes at NIE, sponsored by the Ministry. For details on the terms of appointment, please refer to http://www.moe.gov.sg/teach/.

    3. What is the difference between MOE-sponsored student and full-fee paying student?

MOE-sponsored students are required to serve a bond with MOE, while full-fee paying students have the freedom of choosing their employment. The details of MOE-sponsored student's bond can be found in this link: http://www.moe.gov.sg/teach/.

Full-fee paying students have to pay the full tuition fees. MOE pays the tuition fees for MOE-sponsored students.

    4. How do I apply?

Application for the July & December 2017 intake has closed. Application usually starts from mid-January and ends in mid-March each year.
