Diploma Programmes

The Dip Ed general programme is a 2-year full-time programme meant for GCE ‘A’ level holders and Polytechnic Diploma holders who intend to teach in the primary schools. There is also a small number who are trained to teach specialised subjects (e.g., Art, Music, Home Economics, Mother Tongue) at the secondary school level. The aim of the programme is to prepare well-informed, competent and reflective teachers who understand the key concepts and principles of teaching and learning. Those in the primary track are trained to teach 2 – 3 subjects while those in the secondary track, 1 – 2 subjects.

The practicum is spread throughout the entire Diploma programme and is developmental in nature. Generally it comprises two school attachment periods, i.e., School Experience (SE) or Teaching Practice 1 (TP1) and followed by Teaching Practice 2 (TP2).
