The Curriculum, Teaching and Learning Academic Group (CTL) at the National Institute of Education in Singapore is devoted to scholarly research, teaching and practice on Curriculum, Assessment, Teaching and Learning. We seek to uphold moral and educational imperatives in education and society, and are committed to the achievement of a just and caring society. CTL’s research champions these agendas, and seeks to deliver significant impact in Curriculum practices and policy. Our funded research includes grants on Curriculum Gatekeeping, Citizenship Education, Teacher Learning Communities, Lesson Study, Assessment for Learning, the Growth Mindset Curriculum, Culturally Relevant Pedagogy, and Teachers’ Beliefs concerning disadvantaged students. CTL engages in strategic collaborations and professional development projects with schools and curriculum policy offices. We emphasize a keen and updated awareness of technological/social/global effects on the epistemology and ontology of Curriculum-making within and beyond Singapore.
CTL invites applications with an earned doctorate and research portfolio in learning relevant to mainstream, diverse and special (needs) learners, in particular from the social-cultural perspectives, for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position.
CTL offers graduate programmes in MA, MEd, EdD and PhD, focusing on curriculum, teaching, learning, and assessment courses for pre-service and graduate students, middle leaders and school leaders, as well as professional development workshops/programmes for schools. The candidate would play an active role in some or all of these programmes. Applicants who are prepared to understand, support, and work with colleagues on issues of teacher education and professional learning in common or new expertise areas are valued. Working across disciplinary and discursive interests is encouraged.
