The Asian Languages and Cultures Academic Group (ALC AG) at the National Institute of Education in Singapore comprises the Chinese, Malay, and Tamil Divisions. ALC’s vision is to be a world class centre of excellence for Asian studies, especially in languages, cultures and education. We aim to nurture excellent teacher-researchers devoted to the development and promotion of mother tongue language education, Asian values and cultures as pillars of Singapore’s national identity and harmony. Mother tongue language teachers who enrol in our programmes can expect to receive a firm academic foundation with current knowledge in education research. ALC’s research places emphasis on high-impact interdisciplinary content, pedagogical innovation, challenging existing theories and extending the prevalent boundary of Asian studies.
ALC AG invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for an Assistant Professor/Associate Professor position in the Chinese Language and Culture Division. The Chinese division of ALC provides training for Chinese language teachers through both pre-service and professional development programmes in Singapore.
