Assistant Professor in Chemistry (Natural Sciences & Science Education Academic Group)

• Overview

  The Natural Sciences and Science Education Academic Group (NSSE AG) at the National Institute of Education in Singapore is committed to discovery and innovation in science and science education. Comprising faculty from both science content and pedagogical disciplines, we adopt an inter-disciplinary approach to teaching and research. Research by biologists, chemists and physicists in NSSE is centred on many areas of current cutting-edge science, both basic and applied. Our science educationists focus mainly on maximising the potential of every child through research on students' learning approaches and problem-solving skills, and work with teachers to develop models of creative teaching and new approaches to learning. Faculty members receive research support through internal and external grants, as well as access to world-class research facilities.
  
  The NSSE AG invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Materials Chemistry.  
  
  The position is available from January 2019 onwards.

• Requirements

  Successful candidates must have :
  

  • A first degree in Chemistry and a PhD in Chemistry, e.g. materials chemistry or analytical chemistry
    
  • Published in relevant top-tier, peer-reviewed international journals 
    
  • Post-doctoral research experience and prior teaching experience at undergraduate/graduate level are desirable. 

• Responsibilities

  Successful candidates will be expected to :
  

  • Teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in Chemistry, including Materials Chemistry 
    
  • Supervise undergraduate final year projects and MSc/PhD students 
    
  • Participate in committees in the Academic Group/Institute/University and course coordination
    
  • Develop strong research programmes in the areas of their interest and to publish in top-tier, peer-reviewed international journals.
