Lecturer (Policy and Leadership Studies Academic Group)

  • The Policy and Leadership Studies Academic Group (PLS AG) at the National Institute of Education in Singapore believes that a confluence of policy and practice, spearheaded and supported by sound leadership, underpins the success of our education system and the holistic development of our students. PS faculty develop research activities in educational policy and leadership, publish in reputable journals, and actively engage with stakeholders. Through our research and publications in policy and leadership, we aim to provide insights that may be translated into inputs for policy making and beneficial practices on the ground. We aim to contribute to the development of school leaders and teachers by providing a platform for them to discover a nexus of theory and practice.  We hope to develop educational leaders and teachers who inspire and empower others to work synergistically in the education system, both locally and internationally, and prepare them to meet emerging challenges in education with purpose and confidence.

    The PLS AG has a vacancy for Lecturer in the area of Philosophy of Education, Educational Policy and/or Educational Leadership and Management.

  • Candidates with a relevant PhD or EdD, a track record of research and publication in this area, relevant teaching experience and preferably rich experience in and understanding of the Singapore education/school system, are invited to apply for the position.  


  • The position carries teaching responsibilities in the pre-service, in-service and higher degree programmes of the National Institute of Education. In particular, the successful candidate will be expected to teach in programmes for school leaders.  He or she will also be expected to supervise Student teachers in practicum attachments, as well as to supervise higher degree students working on their theses.

    The successful candidate is required to develop research activities in Educational Leadership and Management and to publish in reputable peer-reviewed journals.  Research grants are available locally on a competitive basis. Some degree of involvement in course/programme coordination is required.  Additionally, academic staff members serve on committees in the AG/NIE/NTU and offer consultancy and professional services to schools, the Ministry Of Education, and other public education-related organizations on a request basis.
