Research Assistant (Office of Academic Administration and Services) [RS 4/18 LKM]

  • The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 24-month contract at the Office of Academic Administration and Services (OAAS).

    Project Title: Global childhoods: Lifeworlds and educational success in Australia and Asia

    Project Introduction: This project aims to investigate the ways in which children’s orientation to educational success is shaped, and how this relates to Australian and Asian policy cultures. It adopts a mixed methods approach that incorporates a large-scale survey of students and an ethnographic study of student lifeworlds.

  • Essential

    • A university degree 
    • At least 2 years of relevant working experience
    • Proficiency in use of statistical software (e.g., SPSS, SAS) 
    • Good knowledge of research methodology and data/statistical analysis
    • Good writing and communication skills
    • Good organisational skills
    • Strong team player 


    • Experience with data collection in schools
    • Experience with conducting research interviews
    • Recruit participants (Primary 4 students) in schools   
    • Perform data collection (online survey, classroom observations, interviews, video-recording)
    • Complete literature review
    • Perform data and statistical analysis
    • Maintain and manage databases
    • Assist with report writing, manuscript preparation and conference presentation.
    • Liaise with the other researchers involved in the project from Australia and Hong Kong. This will include online meetings.
    • Assist with other research-related activities
