  • The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 24-month contract at the Office of Education Research

    Project Title: Optimising pre-schoolers’ working memory and numerical processing capabilities 

    Project Introduction: This longitudinal study seeks to examine the role of working memory and mathematical abilities in pre-schoolers through the collection of both behavioural and neuroimaging data across multiple study visits.


  • Essential

    Possess a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Psychology or related disciplines
    Interest in education research, particularly in educational neuroscience
    Keen interest and/or prior experience in working with pre-schoolers (i.e. 4-6 year olds)
    Good written and verbal communication skills, and basic computer skills in programs such as Microsoft Office applications
    Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, ability to take initiative and to work flexibly, as part of a team, as well as independently with minimum supervision


    Experience in paediatric neuroimaging (i.e. MRI) data collection 
    Able to work and communicate with people of different age and ethnic groups.
    Ability to use statistical analyses software (i.e. SPSS and/or R) and neuroimaging analyses software (i.e. SPM and/or Brain Voyager)
  • Collect research data (behavioural and neuroimaging) in various settings
    Conduct observations and interviews with parents
    Manage research data and project documentations
    Contribute to data analysis and production of research reports including literature reviews
    Liaise with research participants and other researchers involved in the project
    Perform other tasks as assigned by the Principal Investigators (PIs)/Co-PIs / Research Fellows
