Research Assistant (Office of Education Research) [OER 30/15 KL]

  • The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 24-month contract at the Office of Education Research, Education and Cognitive Development Lab. The successful applicant will be working on two projects described below.

Project Title: Working Memory (WM) and Numeracy Intervention for Children in the Learning Support Programme for Mathematics (LSM)

Project Introduction: In this project we examine the efficacy of three different game-based training protocols to improve WM and numeracy skills in children enrolled in the LSM program.

Although LSM already provides additional educational support to children during their early years of formal schooling, a sizable proportion of children require even more support in order to perform at a level that is within range of their normally achieving peers.

With the well-established relations between WM, updating capacity, and mathematics, efforts to improve WM and updating capacity are potentially useful in providing broad spectrum improvements in academic achievement.
