Research Assistant (Office of Strategic Planning and Academic Quality) [Academic Quality Surveys]

  • The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 24-month contract at the Office of Strategic Planning and Academic Quality

    Project Title:
    Academic Quality Surveys

    Project Introduction:  SPAQ takes the lead in helping to promote a culture of continuous self-improvement and the adoption of best practices for NIE academic programmes. Through the gathering of evidence-based feedback from various stakeholders, trend analysis and academic reviews, SPAQ provides deep insight and analysis to aid programmatic and pedagogical enhancements.

    • A university degree 
    • At least 2 years’ relevant working experience, with a strong interest in evaluation survey, quantitative and qualitative analysis
    • Excellent conceptualising, analytical and writing skills
    • Proficiency in MS Office as well as knowledge in using statistical software (e.g. SPSS, SAS) 
    • Working knowledge of statistics and/or data analysis would be advantageous
    • Meticulous, with good organisational skills
    • Strong team player with a pleasant disposition
    • Adaptable to change, able to work under pressure and to meet tight timelines
    • Willingness to learn, develop capabilities, acquire and share new knowledge 
    • Values and attributes demonstrating integrity, professionalism, adaptability and willingness to go the extra mile
    • Working experience in a publicly-funded educational institution may be useful but not mandatory
  • Assist and support the Reporting Officer in the analysis and administration of academic quality projects conducted by office such as the following:

    • Conduct literature reviews 
    • Administer surveys to internal and external students and stakeholders
    • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis
    • Conduct trend research and analysis
    • Prepare executive summaries of international and local news 
    • Manage research data and maintain research records
    • Assist in the production of research reports and presentations
    • Contribute to the dissemination of research findings
    • Assist in ad-hoc or special assignments / corporate events
