Research Assistant (Office of Strategic Planning and Academic Quality) [Strategic Planning] 

  • The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 24-month contract at the Office of Strategic Planning and Academic Quality (SPAQ)

    Project Title: Strategic Planning and Academic Quality Surveys and Projects

    Project Introduction: SPAQ takes the lead in helping to promote a culture of continuous self-improvement and the adoption of best practices to aid institute-wide planning, decision-making and quality assurance. Through the gathering of evidence-based feedback from various stakeholders, trend analysis and academic reviews, SPAQ provides insight and analysis to aid leadership decisions as well as programmatic and pedagogical enhancements.


  • A university degree 
    At least 2 years of relevant working experience, with a strong interest in evaluation survey, quantitative and qualitative analysis. Fresh graduates with a background in Communication Studies or Business may also apply.
    Excellent conceptualising and analytical skills
    Excellent writing and communication skills
    Proficiency in MS Office as well as knowledge in using statistical software (e.g., SPSS, SAS) 
    Working knowledge of statistics and/or data analysis would be advantageous
    Meticulous, with good organisational skills
    Strong team player with a pleasant disposition
    Adaptable to change, able to work under pressure and to meet tight timelines
    Willingness to learn, develop capabilities, acquire and share new knowledge 
    Values and attributes demonstrating integrity, professionalism, adaptability and willingness to go the extra mile
    Working experience in a publicly-funded educational institution may be useful but not mandatory
  • Assist and support the Head of Department in the analysis and administration of strategic planning and academic quality projects conducted by the office including:

    Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis
    Conduct trend research and analysis
    Conduct literature reviews 
    Administer surveys to internal and external students and stakeholders
    Assist in the production of strategic planning research reports and presentations
    Prepare executive summaries of international and local news 
    Manage research data and maintain research records
    Contribute to the dissemination of strategic planning research findings
    Coordinate administrative procedures and systems and devise ways to improve and streamline processes
    Assist in ad-hoc or special assignments / corporate events as required
