ICT0320 - Assessment Literacy 2.4: Effective Questioning & Feedback as AfL Strategies

  • The course is designed to build teachers’ capacity in the areas of questioning and feedback, two important assessment for learning (AfL) strategies. Using research-informed best practices, participants explore and apply questioning and feedback within authentic contexts. Focusing on enhancing teachers’ use of AfL strategies, the course examines how participants may plan the conditions for ideal questioning and feedback practices. Through discussion, hands-on and reflective activities, participants will enhance their knowledge and skills to use Q&F strategies to support and evaluate teaching and learning. AfL practices and understandings will be set within the context of MOE Assessment Philosophy and assessment competencies.

    1. Explore research-informed best practices in high-impact questioning and feedback techniques
    2. Centre these techniques within priorities of AfL
    3. Enhance and apply questioning and feedback strategies to improvement of teaching and learning using authentic scenarios
    4. Develop/ Refine and implement a lesson plan that integrates enhanced questioning and feedback Share, critique and reflect on implementation of enhanced lesson plans with questioning and feedback strategies
  • Participants are requested to bring a lesson plan incorporating either the use of questioning or feedback which they wish to work on. Session two will focus on participants’ implementation of the enhanced lesson plan and enhanced questioning and feedback.

    Upon confirmation, payment is required for all courses. Payment should only be made after the course placement letter has been sent to participants to confirm the application. Cancellations/withdrawals are not allowed. However, a replacement may be sent to attend the same course.

    NIE will proceed to invoice the respective schools, and they can make payment through GIRO or IFAAS. The amount payable should be credited into the NIE bank account number 518-041272-001.

    Payment by Cheque

    Please submit the cheque together with the application form. Cheque should be made payable to “National Institute of Education” and participant(s)’ name and course(s) clearly indicated on the reverse of the cheque.

    Notification

    NIE will acknowledge receipt of the application form through email within one week. The course placement letter will be emailed to applicants who have been successfully placed in a course and upon course confirmation.

    Instructor

    Please note that NIE reserves the right to replace an instructor for a course if the lecturer is unable to teach the course due to unforeseen circumstances. No refund of the course fee will be made to participants.
