ICT0423 - Our Story, Our Choice: Digital Storytelling for Critical Thinking
(8 & 9 October 2018).

  • Critical thinking is a key component of 21st century competencies. It is essential to the big idea of value-based choice in Character and Citizenship Education (CCE).  This hands-on workshop allows participants to experience how students may develop critical thinking through a knowledge forensics digital storytelling approach. The workshop engages participants to play the role of knowledge forensic scientists on relevant core values and go through a process of collecting and reviewing claims - verifying claims and justifications - exploring dilemmas, alternative views and possibilities - reporting personal views in their collective design of a digital story. The workshop also familiarizes participants with relevant design principles, which will inform them in designing process-based CCE learning. At the end of the workshop, participants will gain an understanding of how they may leverage the process-based knowledge forensics digital storytelling approach for critical thinking development.
